One big failing grade I will give the room was the sort of kitchen sink just as you enter the room. You can often smell the same smell the minute you step off the plane and onto the bridge at the airport. We’ve experienced this in the Caribbean many times before. Ours was slightly musty, but not too bad. I also saw many complaints about the rooms being musty. I’ve been in fancier hotels with better shower heads that had half the flow of this one, so based on that, I will give the shower a 10/10. I saw a review complaining about the shower head that made me laugh. My suggestion for a shower or bath is to run the cold fully and control the temperature with the hot. In fact, there wasn’t enough cold water to control the hot water. Everything in the bathroom worked properly and there was plenty of hot water.
As many have already mentioned, the room was very dated. Unlike most resorts we’ve been to, they want it back at the end. The check in was relatively quick and easy. This was our first time vacationing in Mexico after staying at many different comparable resorts in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. My wife and I vacationed with our two kids at the Samba Vallarta in March. A bit of noise from the hotel next door but otherwise it was the perfect holiday! I was very happy with my stay and the staff at the Samba Vallarta. I was very happy with my stay and the wonderfully friendly atmosphere of the hotel, staff and fellow guests alike. It's walking distance to Bucerias, or you can take a cab and there's a bus which stops right at the hotel to go to Puerto vallarta. The staff are all phenomenal! Everyone there works very hard to give their guests a pleasant stay and they succeed! And I don't think I've ever seen anywhere as clean. I enjoyed the daily drink specials at the pool bar as well as the buffet which was, I think, more traditionally Mexican. The beach was beautiful with ample palapas and lounge chairs which was really nice. This is a small resort, definitely not a "party" atmosphere so suited me well as I don't care for the large hotels. The variety was great and the coffee was delicious. With young kids, we just stuck with the buffet. It was older, but everything worked fine and it was a good value for the money. The metal pieces that stick out from under the slide can hurt them. Kids need to be careful not to go under it (as a short cut) when trying to get back to the stairs. I do caution parents about the green slide on the pirate ship in the pool. The water was warm and the kids had so much fun. The beach and the pool were both wonderful. We also really appreciated the helpful advice from the concierge. Jose and Alex took excellent care of us at the buffet. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful to us. This resort is smaller, which we liked, and the service was excellent. This was my first time to an all inclusive and my first time in Mexico.
